By this time of year, who isn’t tired of winter in the Northeast? It’s cold, grey and there’s been snow on the ground for a good month. Like the bears, we tend to hibernate. We may not be able to change the weather but this is the perfect time to practice some extra self-care. What is it? It’s something we do for ourselves. It’s deliberate, in our control and self initiated. Self-care comes in many forms and is different for everyone.
It could be…
practice of gratitude
or just enjoying a quiet cup of tea with a book or a magazine.
Solo self-care acts are wonderful but sometimes self-care involves other people. I often find after being inside much more then usual this time of year, I start to crave socialization. I recently had a night out with my girlfriends. I got out of my yoga pants and put on make-up. We had some kick ass blood-orange margaritas, yummy food and lots of laughter. It sure helped me shake off the winter blahs. It felt good to be around people!
Think about it. Are you craving some solo or social self-care? Whether you have ten minutes or two hours, take time everyday to practice some type of self-care. Self-care=self-love. When we take care of ourselves, and make ourselves a priority we can show up more fully for the people around us.
I’m grateful for all of you.
